The Astrology of 2023

Reading Time : 8 minutes

Before sprouting,
the seed have to rot first.

In this article we are going to provide an overall view of the Astrology of 2023. This year we are going to experience many shifts in terms of astral energy. This is because many slow-moving planets are going to change sign. Jupiter is going to move into Taurus, Saturn in Pisces and for three months Pluto is going to move into Aquarius.

As I’ve pointed out in previous articles, information fragmentation is one of astrology main problems. Simply put, we tend to focus on single astrological events, tackling them one after the other. And by doing so, we loose contact with the essence of the year, which we should rather be looking at as a real spiritual being.

In order to get this connection back, this article is going to function as a master post. This means that as we go through the Wheel of the Year, I’m going to add all future articles as links down below. This way we’ll always be able to step back and looking at the bigger picture.

Let’s start by looking at this image, that summarizes in a single glyph the astrological events of 2023.

The Astrology of 2023

The circle in black at the center is the wheel of the Zodiac, as you can see from the twelve signs of the same color all around it. Then, we find:

  • In purple, the positions of the two lunar nodes, the spots where eclipses take place. At the moment the nodes are in Taurus and Scorpio. But in July 2023 they are going to move backwards (they always move in a retrograde motion) into Aries and Libra. This means that part of 2023 Eclipses are going to take place in those signs.
  • In yellow, the orbit of Mercury doing its three retrogrades loops during the year. Mercury is going to station in all three Earth signs: Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo. It is very peculiar that 2023 is going to start with Mercury turning retrograde in Capricorn on December 29, 2022—during the Holy Nights. And 2023 is going to end also with Mercury retrograde in Capricorn.
  • In magenta, we find the orbit of Venus—which is going to get retrograde in Leo next Summer. This event is going to enhance the Fire element, since Venus is going to stay in Leo for five months—an unusual amount of time for such a quick planet.
  • In blue, we have the orbit ofJupiter. As we know, Jupiter changes sign once a year, giving it a specific color. On May 16th, Jupiter is going to enter Taurus. It’s interesting noticing that although Jupiter is going to be in the same sign of Uranus, they are going to conjoin only in 2024.
  • In indigo, Saturn. As we’ve mentioned in the intro, in 2023 Saturn is going to change sign as well. Saturn change sign every roughly 3 years. On March 7th, 2023 it is going to enter Pisces, and between June and July it is going to make a sextile aspect with Jupiter. This is going to be their first aspects since the spectacular 2020 Great Conjunction.
  • In dark purple, we have the orbit of Pluto. Yes, Pluto is going to change sign as well! This event is going to be extremely important to understand how the energy shift, brought by Pluto in Aquarius, will manifest in the future. In fact in 2023 Pluto is going to stay in Aquarius for just 3 months, to enter back in the sign only in 2024.

Let’s see now all these points into more detail. As always we are going to delve deep into them in specific articles as the year unfolds.

Total Lunar Eclipse in Taurus 2022 — Mercury Cazimi and the Blood Moon

Reading Time : 7 minutes

Mercury, the messenger of the Gods, joins the divine banquet. He sits at the table of the solar deity as his guest of honor. The wanderer reveals secrets that had been lurking in the shadows of the world. And as a reward, every wish of him is granted.

In the previous article we’ve discussed about the Partial Solar Eclipse in Scorpio. The event that opened Eclipse Season two. In this article, we are going to talk about the second and last event of the season. It is going to be a Total Lunar Eclipse taking place at 16°00′ Taurus on November 8. And it is going to occur during the Full Moon of the same lunation.

This eclipse is definitely special. Not only because, as we are going to see, it mirrors both the eclipses of the first season. But especially because it is going to feature a Mercury Cazimi, an extremely rare event.

— Revelation 12:1

The divine feminine stands out strongly in the sky, ready to repel its influences. What are the challenges that this fall is bringing to us? What is the cosmos asking us to process? The second eclipse season is about to start.

This spring, eclipse season one featured a Partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus and a Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio. Their combined effect caused the worsening of the global supply chain crisis and in general resource related issues. With wheat and gas being the most affected by the war in Ukraine.

Reading Time : 4 minutes

The Sun is about to enter Libra—the zodiac sign of equilibrium. And under the auspices of Libra, it is going to bring the celestial tensions to balance out during the month of October.

Mars Retrograde in Gemini 2022 — Seven Months in the Same Sign

Reading Time : 5 minutes

In a previous post, I’ve discussed about the conjunction between Mars, Uranus and the North Node. This conjunction, which is triggering the energy of the last eclipses, is still going on. And yet, Mars is catching our attention again. The God of War is indeed going to start soon a process that is going to involve the sky for the second half of the year.

On August 20, Mars is going to enter Gemini and it is going to stay there for a good seven months due to its retrograde motion. Mars turns retrograde roughly every other year. Last time we’ve been talking about it, it was in Aries during the second half of 2020.

Eclipse Energy released by Mars and Uranus during New Moon in Leo 2022

Reading Time : 4 minutes

Eclipse season one started on April 30th, and lasted for all May lunation, ending with the new moon in Gemini of May 30th. However, as I often report on this blog, eclipses are unpredictable events. This doesn’t mean that as astrologers we can’t predict them, of course. But It does mean that a precise timing is difficult to nail down.

New Moon in Leo 2022, a dragon and a lion fighting

In previous articles (especially on this one about the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio) we said that Mars would have been the activator of eclipse energy. This is because in general Mars is particularly suitable for lighting the fuse and blowing things up. In particular, this time it also rules half of the eclipses of the new cycle, taking place between the Taurus-Scorpio axis.
