Hello everyone, I’m proud to announce the release of the Astronomicon Fonts!
I’ve been working on this side project for a while, and now they are ready and free to download. The spirit of this project is to contribute to the spiritual community out there, providing a set of astrological glyphs as complete as possible. As you can see below, the style is minimal allowing the fonts to adapt and blend nicely regardless of the context.
The Project
I had designed my version of the basic astrological symbols for quite some time now. And I’ve been using my planets and zodiac signs glyphs in this website since. But for more than a year now I have also been making extensive use of Astrolog, a fantastic free and open source astrology software created by Walter Pullen.
Since I wanted to use my glyphs in Astrolog, I reached out to him offering them as a possible design for the program. An interesting exchange of ideas and requests began, and starting from the planets and signs I ended up adding more and more glyphs.
This way all the objects supported by Astrolog where slowly added, and now they are all present in the Astronomicon Fonts. This makes them one of the most complete astrology font set around!
I would like to thank Walter Pullen for his support and contribution to the project, especially for his patience in spotting little details and errors to correct.
Featured Glyphs
So, here they are. I’ve divided them in the categories below. In order to use them, of course first install the fonts on your system. Then, you can copy and paste the characters in the black boxes below the images. They correspond to the glyphs shown in the pictures, so you can reference them quickly and start using them in any text editor.

The Astronomicon Fonts are released and distributed under the Open Font License. You can find the FAQs about the license at this link, as well as in the zip file. The license is very open so there are not many limitations. Most likely you are going to able to use them freely in your projects.
I consider myself a free researcher in western spiritual disciplines, in particular Rudolf Steiner’s Anthroposophy and the Neoplatonic Hermetic tradition. I have a three-year training in Astrology at the CIDA delegation of Trieste, the Italian Center for Astrological Disciplines. I graduated in Computer Engineering from the University of Trieste.

Hi again! I’m using this font and realizing that it would be really nice to have arrows for things like ‘Sun enters Taurus’ and moon phases (new, quarters, full). I’d be happy to contribute these as SVG. I’m going to try to match the font with glyphs …but as you know it’s much easier to keep things consistent if everything is coming from the same font.
p.s. It does contain the standard unicode arrows, so that’s nice, but I think if you drew them they would be nicer :D
Hey Arena, the unicode arrows are pretty standard I guess. I agree, it would be nice having the arrows as well :)
I don’t plan to edit the fonts anytime soon though, but thanks for the suggestion!
When I’m going to release a new version I’m going to add this improvement, as well as a bold version and a fix to the Anthroposophical Vulcan character :)

I love this font, very useful, it’s just that your symbols for Semi-Sextile and Quincunx (Inconjunct) are round the wrong way.

HI! Is there a possibility that you will expand Astronomicon with glyphs of other celestial bodies and mathematical points, such as Eros, Amor, Psyche, Hecate, Priapus, some fixed stars and so on? on Mac usually it’s enough to double-click on them and press install.
If it doesn’t work I don’t know what you should do. Maybe try to update macOS..
Thank you so much for this beautiful font! The only one I’m having trouble with is the opposition. It comes up as the double quotations. Anyone else having issues with it?
Hi Marra, no this is the first time that somebody’s reporting this issue. Try to copy and paste the characters you find in the article to see whether it’s just the wrong key

Thank you so much for this. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. I am having trouble with the symbols for Air and Water — it looks like it maps to a superscript 2 and 3, but I don’t know how to type this on my computer. Can you please clarify — or is there a way to change the mapping to different keys?
I use Font Book on macOS to see all the characters on a single page and I copy and paste them. Maybe there’s something similar for Windows..

Your astrological fonts look terrific! Thank you so much for making them available to the whole world. — I am rather ignorant about fonts. I have a Unicode font file with many astrological symbols in it. Can I update it in some way so that it uses your astrological fonts?

Unicode characters are something completely different I’m afraid..
