New Moon in Aquarius 2017

JAN28, FULL MOON @ 9° Aquarius

Each new moon occurs in darkness—like a seed sprouting underground. The doors of the skies are opened and new astral forces can penetrate into the orbit of the earth. Every month this process happens under the auspices of a zodiac sign, which leaves its mark on those energies.

Let’s take a break from the Cardinal T-square. Yes—it is still there—but the upcoming lunar month seems to detach from its energies. Actually, we should say “from all energies” because the Moon and the Sun (always in conjunction on a New Moon) are not making any aspect. With no other planet. No one.

It’s like a month off, an opportunity to move away from it all—and just breathe. Sometimes January feels like it, right? Everything stands still under a blanket of snow. Nature rests, and it’s time to just observe in silence without acting.

Sabian Symbol @ 9° Aquarius

When I can’t find many clues about a planet or—as in this case—a conjunction I take a look at the Sabian Symbols. Their story is very interesting, so I highly suggest you to check them out. In a nutshell, they are 360 symbols related to each degree of the Zodiac. Modern astrologers often use them as an intuitive tool to think out of the box.

The New Moon occurs at 9° Aquarius. Here’s the corresponding Sabian Symbol commented by the great astrologer Dane Rudhyar in his book An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases:

KEYNOTE: The dynamic incorporation of new social values in individuals who exemplify the spiritual potential and greatest significance of these values.

[…] All that is implied here is the vitalization of a powerful symbol, its embodiment in a living reality, i.e. in a person able to fly in consciousness to the highest spiritual realm. The archetype is given living substance and wings. The Image has become a Power.

I really like this symbol. The flag turning into an eagle means—as Rudhyar suggests—that what we usually consider as an ideal symbol must become a living being. The POTUS for example should embody the ideals that US citizens project on him. Ok, I know—please don’t laugh—I’m not saying that Trump is going to become that eagle.

We have already discussed about his inauguration speech. And—let’s face it—he is far from even resemble the ideal POTUS. But in my opinion it’s not important the way he presents himself. What really matters is what he is actually going to do. So, is he really going to make social justice? What do you think? We will see.

Lovers in the Sky

Venus and Mars are in conjunction. This powerful encounter—occurring in the emotional sign of Pisces—is all about love and romance. It tells a struggling story, though. The planets can’t reach each other (separating aspect), as Saturn gets in their way—squaring the conjunction.

It’s almost like the Saturnian energy (could be an authoritarian father, a stifling job, or the lack of money) is preventing the beloved (Venus) to reach the lover (Mars)—who’s leaving the country in search of fortune (he is actually about to change sign).

As you can see Astrology is able to depict in the sky human dramas that are able to inspire us all. Do you feel any connection with it? Let me know in the comments below.

Secrets Revealed

Mercury has reached Pluto. When the planet of communication is in conjunction with the ruler of hidden powers things get very interesting. There can be both whispered secrets and manipulative liesTwitter .

From a social perspective—since Pluto represents the financial elite—this can also be the beginning of an interesting dialogue with Trump. Nevertheless, the square with both Jupiter and Uranus do not bode well for the short-term future.

Cardinal T-Square — Donald Trump’s Inauguration Speech

We have already described the nature of the Cardinal T-Square that has been active since last November. This dynamic—and unstable—configuration involves Jupiter in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries. Its main effect is most likely going to manifest as a an impulse toward justice. Still, the energies involved are so powerful and unpredictable that it’s too soon to pronounce on the outcome. However, something is already moving.

Donald Trump’s Inauguration Speech

When we deal with such big energies we also need to pay attention to the world of politics since it is able to determine events on a global scale. If we take a closer look to Donald Trump’s Inauguration Speech we are definitely going to find several tracks of this jupiterian force, getting in the way of the Pluto-Uranus square.

First of all, he seems to stand for the people, taking basically the parts of Uranus in Aries:

Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning because today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.

And he is also definitely confronting Pluto in Capricorn, by saying:

For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

[…] What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people.

This is clearly the manifestation of Pluto square Uranus: the elite power groups versus the “revolution from below”, demanding equal rights and social justice.

We need to realize that in this speech Trump does not consider himself part of the political class. He is introducing himself as a third force, which promises to restore the broken balance of justice (Jupiter in Libra, indeed).

But we also need to understand that by doing so he is—at the same time—weakening the irrational impulse of Uranus in Aries. That impulse which in my opinion would otherwise explode as a violent public demonstration, leading the country towards a sort of civil class war. We could say that this irrationality has already been expressed in the outcome of the election per se. No matter how you put it: it is little reasonable to vote for a man who destroyed the very concept of political correctness.

Protectionist Policies

Trump stated that he is basically going to follow a protectionist policy, which is going to weaken the financial elite:

For many decades, we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry; subsidized the armies of other countries, while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military. We’ve defended other nations’ borders while refusing to defend our own.

And spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay. We’ve made other countries rich, while the wealth, strength and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon.

One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores, with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind. The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed all across the world.

As a matter of fact, last December he promised a 35% tax on products sold in the US by any business that fired American workers, and built a factory elsewhere.

In Conclusion

As we stated above it is still too early to understand how the T-Square is going to end. But I find very interesting the way the collective unconscious is playing the game, putting such a controversial political figure in charge of a delicate process of transformation.

Still, we have to assume that he is possibly lying. That in the end he is going to be just another puppet of that establishment he doesn’t want to be a part of. We’ll see how the situation evolves, until then thanks for reading and have a good week.

Lapo Elkann Natal Chart – Fake Kidnapping Scandal

Today all Italian newspapers have reported that Lapo Elkann, grandson of former Fiat Automobiles CEO Gianni Agnelli, faked his own kidnapping after he ran out of cash, during a two-day bender with a transsexual escort in New York (read The Daily Beast article for further details).

This is not the first time for Lapo, who was found in October 2005 overdosed in the apartment of a transsexual prostitute in Turin. After the death of his grandfather his life seems to be full of successes and scandals. Let’s take a look at his Natal Chart to better understand what is leading him like a moth towards the flame.

Lapo was born on October 7, 1977 in New York. Unfortunately we don’t know his hour of birth, so we won’t be able to provide a precise analysis of his chart. Nevertheless, we are going to deepen its dominant trends.

Sun conjunct Pluto on Caput Draconis

The first thing that catches the eye about Lapo’s chart is his natal Sun in partile conjunction with Pluto on the North Lunar Node (Caput Draconis). This is a very interesting aspect which immediately reveals the dark nature (Pluto) of his vital forces (the Sun) dwelling within—at the very core of his personality.

Please note that darkness doesn’t necessarily mean evil, and light doesn’t always stand for good as well. It simply means that their essence remains unseen, hidden or secret. However, we can’t deny that most of times we tend to hide what we don’t likeTwitter about ourselves or what is not commonly accepted by society.

The truth be told, both the Sun and Pluto are debilitated in Libra, the Sun being in its fall and Pluto in its detriment respectively. This means that they are not well. Unable to express themselves freely, they feel in a way stuck by the forces of Libra.

Harmony, balance, beauty, and especially bourgeois manners are preventing his Sun to shine of that dark glamour (Pluto) he seems to look for in fashion (Venus in Virgo) and extreme companies (trans prostitutes, cocaine parties, etc.).

The North Lunar Node intensifies the conjunction to the point of making it a karmic issue: the individual can’t ignore it, and it is compelled—by hook or by crook—to confront it.

Moon and Saturn in Leo

The Moon Sign is very important since it is able to reveal the driving need of a person. In Lapo’s case, the Moon in Leo is all about acknowledgment. Not only he needs (Moon) to shine and create (Leo) but he also has a profound need to be recognized by people that matters to him.

Unfortunately we can’t analyze his fourth house—which is related to the fatherly figure—but since his Moon is in Leo we can assume that he is mainly looking for his father’s approval. After all, his nightly escapades could also be a search for attention perpetrated by his inner child (again, the Moon).

Even though Saturn is not in conjunction with the Moon it still shares with her the energy of the sign. Self-expression and spontaneity—that need to shine we mentioned above—are both blocked (Saturn) by discipline and… sense of royalty (Leo).

In other words, I think that his education as a noble (his mother is after all the Countess Margherita Agnelli) has castrated his spontaneity. On top of that, Saturn in Leo also gives him a strong respect for tradition and ancestors (especially for the Grandfather-Saturn). This makes him feel he must fit in order to be worthy of the lineage he is carrying on.

In fact as we are about to see his sense of belonging to the family is very strong.

Jupiter and Mars in Cancer

Jupiter is in its exaltation in Cancer. The planet of faith and sense of belonging is in the sign of the family which literally become “the only people you can trust”. Clearly another piece in the puzzle that allows us to better understand his struggle.

To recap: he wants to belong to the family (Jupiter in Cancer) and to be worthy of the lineage (Saturn in Leo). He also has a strong need to be acknowledged and to express himself (Moon in Leo). But his Sun, bearer of his vital forces, has a dark side he doesn’t want to reveal to others (Sun conjunct Pluto in Libra).

In this scenario Mars is crucial, because it represents the ability of the person to affirm himself. Alas, Mars is in its fall in Cancer (and in its triplicity, though). This position is “the rest of the warrior” and does not allow Lapo to fight and stand up for himself.

Neptune and Diversity

The largest part of both scandals revolves around the fact that he was found entertaining himself with transsexuals. Analyzing Neptune—planet of diversity—we can see it making aspects with both the feminine planets: a trine with the Moon in Leo and a square with Venus in Virgo.

The conformism of the Virgo clearly doesn’t allow him to live this kind of love (Venus) in a healthy way, activating his Sun-Pluto conjunction as a countermeasure (sex with prostitutes, downfall of Venus which rules Libra). However, the Moon trine Neptune suggests that this kind of company meets his emotional needs.

Personally I don’t think he is mainly looking for sex and drugs through those experiences. I believe he is trying to feel whole (Neptune), looking for love and acknowledgement (Moon) from people who can understand his pain because they are normally despised and mistreated.

Lapo, you are definitely doing it in the wrong way.

The Voice of the New Moon in Sagittarius 2016

Each new moon occurs in darkness—like a seed sprouting underground. The doors of the skies are opened and new astral forces can penetrate into the orbit of the earth. Every month this process happens under the auspices of a zodiac sign, which leaves its mark on these energies.

The New Moon in Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. As we know, the great benefic is located for months in Libra, where he embraces the role of bearer of justice—the archetype of the Good Magistrate. But what is the cause he is pursuing? What is triggering his attention?

This month we are assisting to a T-square (2 squares and 1 opposition) configuration between Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus. Pluto square Uranus is the great, slow aspect mainly involved in the financial crisis of 2007, and the astral cause behind all its consequences we are still witnessing.

In fact Pluto in Capricorn represents the elites of occult powers (financial groups, banks, etc.), whereas Uranus in Aries ruled the rising rebellion of people around the world demanding equal rights. Just think about all movements born under these omens such as Occupy Wall Street and the Arab Spring.

Now, this aspect is getting more and more loose and its influence is gradually weakening. Still, we have to wait until May 2018—entrance of Uranus in Taurus—to bring this never-ending story to a conclusion. However, Jupiter’s transit is an important milestone in this process. Let’s check it out.

Jupiter closing the T-Square

We have already talked about Pluto square Uranus. Let’s see now the remaining aspects which complete the T-Square configuration: Jupiter opposite Uranus and Jupiter square Pluto.

  • Jupiter opposite Uranus: the opposition occurs on the Aries-Libra axis. These signs are confronting each other on many different levels: thinking against action, compromises against unilateralism, harmony against struggle. Just think of this opposition as a wise person (Jupiter)—looking for a just compromise—versus a insurrectionist fanatic (Uranus) who is tired, and just wants to take justice into his own hands.
  • Jupiter square Pluto: in this historical period the elite groups of occult powers (Pluto in Capricorn) are more than ever exposed. They know they can do anything they want—as they always have—but in the last decade the bearer of light (Uranus) has clearly revealed the strings they are pulling. Jupiter square Pluto is going to put this issue to trial.

Please consider that this is a slow transit that is going to accompany us for several months. Jupiter opposite Uranus is going to be perfect on December 27th 2016 and again on March 3rd 2017 due to combined retrograde motions. It will finally end only with Jupiter’s entrance in Scorpio on October 2017 (but only as a dissociate aspect).

The easing role of Saturn

Saturn is forming a sextile with Jupiter and a trine with Uranus: it is basically getting in the way of the opposition, trying to soothe the tension between them.

You can think of Saturn in Sagittarius as on old priest, a bigoted moralist which always wants to appear politically correct. As you can imagine this kind of energy is very judgmental, and being the Sagittarius ruled by Jupiter we can expect Saturn to mainly assist him in his role.

This configuration is very interesting and we are definitely going to analyze it further in future articles. How is this going to turn out? Has the election of Donald Trump anything to do with that? Is he really going to stand on people’s side?

If you follow me on Facebook you may have noticed my post about Pluto conjunct Venus. This lunar cycle features this aspect, which is dangerous especially for women’s safety. In fact the archetype regarding this conjunction refers to the myth of the rape of Proserpina.

Hence, we are joining the message of the United Nations to raise awareness on this issue that US elections seem to have weakened, all over the world.

Venus in Scorpio, a Nasty Burn

Sometimes life is wierd. Simple, everyday actions sudenly go wrong and you find yourself injured—stuck in a hospital for three weeks. This is at least what doctors are saying, and no—I’m not talking about me.

Last week my boyfriend had a bad burn, caused by a hot water bottle that blew up behind his lower back. I am still cursing that damn thing. How can an object so small and common make such a damage? I still can’t figure it out.

Burns are hard. They are probably the worst kind of injuries you can get. They loose liquids, you are exposed to infections and the skin is not able to regenerate easily by itself. It takes time—if not a surgery—and you need to be very patient.

Furthermore, hospitals are like holes in spacetime. If you stay in bed long enough they start to mess with your head. Daylight and night time blend together—eclipsed by articial light—while restelessness, pain and meds welcome you in Wonderland.

Apparently, this is burns time. The staff of this department is very busy because a lot of people get hurt trying to start stoves or fireplaces (guys, please don’t use alcohol!). Personally, I like to think that this is the bad influence of Venus in Scorpio which—when this blog is published—will be in Sagittarius. Let’s talk about it.

The Skin according to Astrology

In Astrology the planets ruling the skin are Saturn and Venus, which give us two very different perspectives on the matter.

First of all, being the Reaper, Saturn has power over all dead things. Furthermore—as the Guardian of the Threshold—he also rules all sorts of borders and boundaries. Combining these symbols together we’ve got “dead borders”. This is obviously related to the skin considered as the border of our body which—at least on the outer layer—is made of dead cells.

In regards to Venus, we can say that she rules beauty, as well as pleasure or—in this case—well being. All women know that a luminous and young skin is the secret of beautyTwitter —otherwise why bother with lotions and makeup? Our well being is seen by the skin, too.

Boundary (Saturn, earth element) and appearence (Venus, air element) are the two pillars of the skin according to medical astrology.

The Goddess and the Serpent

Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto. It is the sign of death and rebirth, so every process of regeneration deals with its energies. This also applies to skin regeneration—just think about the well known metaphor of the serpent changing its envelope. This is mainly due to Pluto’s influence on the sign.

What about Mars instead? This fiery planet—the God of War—is the lord of all injuries. This is the main reason why the goddess of pleasure is not well here. Beauty and contentment are both sacrificed on the altar of deep regenerationTwitter that requires a blood toll. Ironically, in my previous blog I compared red wine to blood, just inspired by Venus in Scorpio.

In conclusion I’d like to say that I don’t believe that a single planetary transit is able to affect people in such a deterministic way. As you may know I look at the sky looking for inspiration, not for mass predictionTwitter . If you want to use astrology to dispel the darkness of an unclear event you should always—always—go back to your Natal Chart.

Have a good week.
