Sun Enters Aquarius 2021 — Purification, Discretion and Chaos

Reading Time : 3 minutes

Today the Sun enters Aquarius. In silence, the ice becomes transparent and welcomes the rays of the new sun in all its purity. The light returns and the ascent begins again. Gathered in the heart of winter, we guard the seed of our resolutions for the new year.

A few more days and it will be February. The name of this month has a double meaning. On one hand it means “fever”, on the other “purification”. It’s ironic finding the anniversary of one year of covid-19 falling under this month.

Yet, a purification of sort did happen in 2020. The earth deeply regenerated itself and even the ozone hole has closed. Mother Earth showed us that she can make it by herself, that she doesn’t really need us to do her thing. She just expect us to not bother her work too much.

But what about the fever meaning related to this month? Fever was also seen as a form of purification, even if not one of the most pleasant. In fact all the sulphuric forces accumulated through out the year find here a sort of threshold. In the opposite sign of Leo, they burst in a sudden fever and disappear.

Discretion becomes Meditative Power

In our annual journey through the zodiacal virtues given to us by Rudolf Steiner, we find for the Aquarius the virtue of Discretion. There is something elegant in avoiding to reveal too much about ourselves or other people. And as you can see here, we are again asked to step back for a moment in order to live an inner life.

Jupiter Uranus Square 2021 — Social Media and the Twilight of a 12-year Cycle

Reading Time : 6 minutes

Aquarius is the dawn of the year. We experience the pure whiteness of this sign in February, witnessing to the return of the light piercing through the heart of Winter. Aurora, the light of the new day, brings down on earth the ideals of the brightest stars. And with them the promises of a real revolution are announced. Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité.

Jupiter is the god of the highest spiritual ideals. Usually, in this zodiac sign it releases all their potential, fueling the humanitarian impulses with trust, expansion and optimism. Science and progress become the heralds of a new world, where all peoples unite in the name of universal values.

But is this always the case? Are we really going this year to receive an impulse in that direction? In this article we are going to talk about the Jupiter Uranus cycle. We are also going to see where we are at in this regard, as well as the repercussions for 2021. In particular we are going to focus on the role of Social Networks in the last decade to better understand where our society is going.

The Jupiter Uranus Cycle

In Mundane Astrology planetary cycles are very important to understand earthly events. If we take the slowest planets—Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter—we have 10 possible couples of planets. Each couple forms a cycle, which represents the unfolding of specific living archetypes on Earth.

Let’s take Jupiter and Uranus to clarify this concept. Every roughly 14 years these planets are in conjunction (see picture below in 2010-11). Jupiter is way faster than Uranus, so we can imagine the latter standing still, and the former revolving around it. It is no different than the lunar phases, but instead of having the Sun and the Moon we have Uranus and Jupiter. All this is happening of course from our perspective on the Earth.

As you can see we have several stages in this cycle. Every stage has a specific meaning. We can start from 2008 (sextile, in light blue) when the former cycle was ending end the seed of the new cycle was in preparation.

Mercury Retrograde 2021 — Elemental Triangle of Air

Reading Time : 6 minutes

As we have seen in the overview of 2021, this year Mercury is going to form an Elemental Triangle of Air in the sky. This means that Mercury is going to stop and turning retrograde in all three zodiac signs of this element: Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.

This post is a generic overview of this phenomenon. We are going to talk about what Mercury retrograde means, what are the phases or steps that it usually undertake, and the most important dates for each retrograde period. Let’s start by talking about the Air element and how it relates to Mercury.

Triangle of Air

The Elemental Triangle of Air

As you may know, Mercury is the planet of the Mind and it rules both thinking and communication. From this perspective, when Mercury is in air signs it’s perfectly at ease. This because the element of communication itself is indeed Air, hence it matches excellently with the mercurial force.

If you think about it, we literally talk, meet and see each other through this element. Which is not only the element of communication but also of all kinds of relations. Friendships, relationships, partnerships and even contracts are different expressions of the same force.

The Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction in the Natal Chart — A New Social Impulse

Reading Time : 5 minutes

As we have seen previously, the Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction is going to start a whole new cycle in the Air Element. This is going to have a great impact in the way mankind relate to this element in the upcoming 200 years. But what about the individual? Is it possible to understand the impulse brought by this important event to the life of a single person?

In this article we are going to see how these two planets are at the very foundation of everybody’s social life. We are also going to explore the way their conjunction affect us, and in particular how this aspect relates with a new impulse for our career and place in society.

Photo by Quang Nguyen Vinh from Pexels

First of all it’s very important to understand the nature of both planets in regard to social life. Jupiter and Saturn are the slowest among the classical seven planets. This means that people born within the same year share the position of Jupiter, having it in the same zodiac sign. And the same applies to Saturn which—changing sign every roughly 3 years—is shared by people born within that period.

For this reason, Astrologers refer to them also as Social Planets. They are the pillars of our social life because they represent two essential aspects of it: sense of belonging to the community and formal role (or position) in the society. Let’s see that into more detail.

An Overall View of 2021

Reading Time : 6 minutes

One of the problems with Astrology is fragmented information. Usually, we focus on a single event during the course of the year. We analyze it, we try to understand it better. But in the end we easily loose the perception of the bigger picture. And with it, the context that would enable us to have an idea of what’s going on.

This article wants to be an answer to this problem. Not only providing next year’s bigger picture well in advance. But also stepping back and looking at it, in order to understand how basically an astrological year is made. In fact a lot of events are going to occur, and it might get confusing. But if we display them together, arranging them into groups they immediately become more understandable.

Let’s start by looking at this picture, that summarizes in a single glimpse what we are going to be talking about during 2021.

An Overall View of 2021

It may seem messy and confusing at first, but bear with me. First of all, I’ve chosen a background image that could immediately communicate the elemental forces at work during the year. Since 2021 is going to be a year centered on the Air Element, the background is a clear golden sky—being yellow the color of Air and Light.

The glyph in the middle is a representation of the main events that are going to occur in 2021. The circle in black at the center is the wheel of the Zodiac, as you can see from the twelve Zodiac Signs of the same color all around it. Then, we find:

  • In white, the orbit of Mercury doing its three retrogrades stops during the year. Isn’t it beautiful? It forms a three petal flower, with Mercury stopping in all three air signs: Aquarius, Gemini and Libra. As you can see we are immediately introduced to the air element.
  • In purple, we find the positions of the two lunar nodes. They are important because they are the spots where eclipses take place. The North Node, the so called head of the Dragon, in Gemini (which again, is an air sign); the South Node, the tail of the Dragon, in Sagittarius. This means that most of 2021 Eclipses are going to occur in those signs.
  • In blue, we have Jupiter. This planet changes sign once a year, giving it a specific color. For this reason looking at Jupiter gives us another clue about the new year. Jupiter’s just entered Aquarius on December 19th. But what’s interesting here is that in 2021 it’s going to move so fast that it’s going to enter Pisces as well, turning retrograde, and going back again into Aquarius. Also note that Saturn also just entered Aquarius—another air sign. Can you see the elemental pattern forming?
  • Lastly, we have in red the main aspect of the year: the Saturn Uranus square. This aspect is particularly important, not only because it’s going to last for a year and a half. But also because it’s going to be the foundation on which several Planetary Configurations are going to form on during this period of time.

Let’s see all these points into more detail. Of course we are going to deepen them in specific articles as the year unfolds. Nevertheless, we can have here a preview of what’s coming next.

Mercury Elemental Triangle of Air

Mercury turns retrograde three times a year. The beauty of this rhythm is that Mercury tends to stop in zodiac signs of the same element (of course, this is not always the case). During 2020 Mercury formed an Elemental Triangle of Water. In 2021 he is going to create an Elemental Triangle of Air.

Jupiter and Saturn Great Conjunction on Winter Solstice — The Dawn of a New 200 Year Cycle

Reading Time : 7 minutes

The Sun is lowering more and more on the horizon, while the shadows lengthen on the earth. The Winter Solstice, the time of the year when the Sun seems to stop is approaching. All life follow the light on its journey through the Underworld. And two great planets prepare to shine together as a single star in the zodiac sign of the dawn.

This year had to leave the scene with a grand finale. On December 21st Jupiter and Saturn will conjunct in Aquarius, starting a new cycle in the air signs that will last for about 200 years.

In this article we are going to talk about the threefold cycle through the Four Elements that these planets make in their journey across the centuries. We are also going to talk about the ending cycle of Earth, which led humanity to materialism, and the upcoming cycle of Air, that is going to bring humanity to live in a world of living images.

But first let’s take a look at Jupiter and Saturn, talking about their entrance in Aquarius and the astral forces that are going to be streaming down from this region of the sky.

Jupiter in Aquarius

On December 19th Jupiter is going to enter Aquarius. This is not unusual, since Jupiter changes sign once a year. In fact in 12 years Jupiter completes a cycle, visiting year after year all the signs of the Zodiac.

So what does Jupiter in Aquarius mean? First and foremost, Jupiter in Aquarius means that it’s no longer going to be in Capricorn. This is particularly important since Capricorn is a sign where Jupiter is very weak or—as we say in astrology—in its fall. Jupiter is the Great Benefic which brings optimism, expansion and growth. Did you see any in this 2020? Exactly.

Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius 2020 — The Dragon of Colonialism

Reading Time : 4 minutes

The last eclipse of the year is coming. It’s going to be a Total Solar Eclipse, occurring at 23° Sagittarius on the South Node—the Cauda Draconis. The tail of the Dragon is about destructuring and destroying, and being the Moon in trine with Mars this eclipse is going to be releasing destructive forces coming from the shadow aspect of Sagittarius.

According to Anthroposophy, a solar eclipse releases out in the cosmos the human will that no longer serves our evolution. It is an accumulation and an expulsion of soul substance, instincts that would damage us remaining here on Earth. So on one hand we are called to confront that Shadow (specifically where the eclipse is visible); on the other that substance is going to be expelled.

Being Mars involved, and the eclipse taking place in Sagittarius, the main theme emerging spontaneously is Colonialism. Let’s see why this delicate topic really concerns us all.

The Colonialist Mindset

Colonialism is something that spreads like a disease. It all starts with the mindset of being above. Nature, as well as other cultures, are inferior to those eyes. For this reason, they feel entitled to conquer them, to rule them, and to exploit them. Everything becomes just a useful—or not useful—thing, a part of a bigger project.

The justifications for this attitude are promptly served. “We are bringing them civilization”, “we are exporting democracy”, “we are teaching them the word of God”. They impose their beliefs, their culture, their language.
